The program

Bullying in nursing is well known a longstanding and widespread complex problem that has significant personal impacts on nurses.

This immersive 6-month education program has been developed for nurses in response to the harms that occur as a result of bullying in our profession. It aims to provide a safe space for you to:

  • Build a community with other nurses

  • Share your stories  

  • Begin to heal in a supportive environment

  • Learn skills and strategies that will enable you to disempower bullies and ban them from your life.

  • Undertake a passion project in your own workplaces around bullying

Session one

During session one, we will build a community, because community is essential for healing.

We will explore bullying from the perspective of self and wellness, to do this we will use many different proven techniques. Including behavioural analysis, change theory and relational processes, but don’t worry you will not be bored. We teach in an experiential way, which means that you will be learning practical skills that you can use straight away.

As well as building your practical toolkit of skills, we will also do some healing, which means learning some new relaxation techniques like, mindfulness and yoga.

In Tharwa we will swim in the creek, cook marshmallows, and make wood fired pizza. We will stay in beautiful glamping style and sleep under the stars.

In Hoi An, we will explore the ancient and beautiful town, visit one (or more) of the world class tailors, eat amazing food and float lanterns down the river at sunset.

 

Following session one

Following session one we will have regular masterminds and workshops, you will be supported by the community that you have created.

Inter-session workshops will focus on build your skills and your recovery. Restoring and building your capacity to manage bullies and bring about sustainable change.

 

Final session

Our final session is face to face again, and we will meet in Melbourne or on the Gold Coast. In this session we will translate our new skills, by asking how can we now impact nursing everywhere. How can we be the change that we want to see, and use of tool kit for the greater good.

I have been nursing for more than 30 years including more than 20 years’ experience as a senior leader, coach and workplace culture facilitator. For the last seven years I have worked as a Consultant to the health and not for profit sectors providing services that include leadership coaching for health leaders, facilitation and education.

I work in a person-centred way which means I work collaboratively with you, seeking to understand your view of the world and respecting your opinions and beliefs. I approach work and life from a positive psychology perspective and fostering wellbeing in the work context is an extremely important aspect of the work I do with individuals, teams and organisations.

My qualifications and accreditations are:

· Registered Nurse

· Accredited as Professional Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation (ICF PCC)

· Master of Health Science Education (Hons)

· Multidisciplinary Reflective Practice Supervisor

· Extended DISC Psychometric Testing Consultant and Trainer

· Leaderskill Accredited Consultant and has facilitated Leader/Manager™ 360 degree feedback surveys with NSW Government participants since 2013.

Jen Wressell

I have been a Registered Nurse for over 20 years and has worked across remote parts of Australia, Saudi Arabia and Antarctica. She has led teams in some of the remotest parts of the world.

As a consultant I have developed leadership programs for rural leaders across Australia. I know that programs based on building real life community and learning through shared experience work.

As a research I have specialised in how to mitigate bullying and occupational violence. Making workplace safer and healthier is my passion.

My qualifications include;

- Masters in Health Administration

- Post Graduate qualifications in Rural & Remote Health and Critical Care

- Accredited DiSC facilitator

- Mindfulness Based Stillness Meditation Facilitator

- Fellow, Institute of Managers & Leaders and the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation
